Tofu feta is a chilled, tangy tofu preparation for scattering over salads, bowls and wraps. Lemon, vinegar, white miso and herbs give the pieces a salty, savoury flavour without turning tofu into dairy cheese. It stays firmer than feta and will not melt like cheese. Make a modest batch and allow time for the marinade to reach the surfaces. This is an adjustable homemade method with no recipe nutrition total. Dawnjar’s preview uses sample records with illustrative figures and CAD prices; ordering opens at launch.
Use a block of extra-firm tofu, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, white miso, nutritional yeast, olive oil, salt, garlic and dried oregano. For an adjustable starting marinade, mix two tablespoons each of lemon juice and vinegar, a tablespoon each of miso and olive oil, and a smaller spoonful of nutritional yeast. Add finely grated garlic and oregano to taste. These are kitchen quantities, not tested ratios or nutrition claims.
White miso brings a savoury note and can already taste quite salty, so hold back the added salt until you have mixed the brine. Nutritional yeast adds another flavour layer; it does not make the preparation cheese. Use enough marinade to contact the tofu when turned, adding a little water if the mixture is too concentrated for your taste.
"Tofu feta" receives about 260 searches a month in Canada, per Semrush data pulled October 2026. The recipe name describes its intended role as a tangy topping, not a dairy ingredient or a verified packaged product.
If the marinade gathers at the bottom, turn the container gently or spoon it over the top pieces. Do not shake hard enough to crush cubes. The flavour develops from surface contact, so smaller pieces taste more thoroughly seasoned than a large untouched slab.
Cubes give a distinct bite in a Greek-style salad with cucumber, tomato and olives. Cut evenly so they distribute across the bowl rather than leaving a few large pieces at the bottom. Extra-firm tofu holds these shapes more readily, but pressing changes the texture too.
Crumbles are useful over roasted vegetables or inside wraps because they spread flavour without requiring a large bite. Break the tofu by hand or with a fork, leaving irregular pieces rather than grinding it.
Neither version behaves like dairy feta when heated. Warm tofu feta gently as part of a dish if desired, but do not expect it to melt into a sauce. Add it near serving when you want the lemon and herb flavour to stay noticeable.
Greek-style salad — Combine cucumber, tomato, olives and red onion, then add drained cubes. Taste before adding extra dressing because the tofu already carries lemon, vinegar and salt.
Kale Caesar variation — Scatter crumbles over dressed kale as a separate topping. Review the dressing ingredients independently; changing the topping does not change anchovy, egg or milk ingredients elsewhere.
Grain or vegetable bowls — Finish a bowl of rice, roasted vegetables and beans with a spoonful of tofu feta. Keep the marinade separate from other sauces until you decide how much acidity you want.
Wraps — Layer crumbles with crisp lettuce, cucumber and cooked vegetables. Drain well and avoid spreading a puddle of marinade onto the wrap before packing.
Use the topping amount you actually add when reading ingredient figures. Tofu alone cannot describe a dressed salad or filled wrap.
Keep tofu feta refrigerated in a sealed food-appropriate jar or container, with clean utensils for removing portions. A small batch intended for the next several days is a planning approach, not a guaranteed storage window. Follow the tofu package’s opened-product directions and appropriate refrigerator guidance. Lemon, vinegar and salt do not turn this recipe into shelf-stable preserves.
Do not repeatedly leave the jar on the table while serving. Remove the portion needed and return the rest to the refrigerator. If you are unsure about its handling or condition, discard it rather than assuming the marinade protects it.
Freezing can change tofu’s texture, making the pieces less like their original chilled form. The method establishes neither a refrigerator guarantee nor a freezer duration.
Soy is relevant in tofu and in many miso preparations. Read the miso ingredients rather than assuming every white miso uses the same grain or formula. Health Canada says priority allergens must be identified by common name on pre-packaged food labels. Check the tofu, miso and any prepared garlic or seasoning ingredients, including Contains statements and precautionary wording.
Calling the recipe vegan feta describes a plant-ingredient preparation, not the composition of every meal it accompanies. A wrap or dressing can add ingredients absent from the tofu. If sharing the dish, identify the actual ingredients used and let people read the packages rather than offering a suitability assurance.
Tofu weight — Keep the block’s net weight distinct from its labelled serving and from the drained amount you use.
Miso ingredients — Check the named beans, grains and salt-containing ingredients; colour alone is not a complete description.
Nutrition basis — Health Canada says serving size "isn’t a recommendation of how much to eat". Compare ingredient entries on their stated basis.
Daily values — % DV: 5% DV or less is a little, 15% DV or more is a lot. Use the package’s daily-value entries when reading sodium and other listed nutrients.
The chickpea penne sample illustrates pantry record fields only. It is not tofu, miso, dairy feta or this marinated topping. Its illustrative figures and CAD price cannot supply the nutrition or cost of the recipe; no tofu feta inventory is introduced here.

Choose tofu firm enough for your planned cubes, inspect the white miso ingredients and check that your container closes properly. Decide whether you want crumbles for wraps or cubes for salads before pressing. Keep other dish components on the ingredient list so the tofu topping does not obscure their label checks.
Tofu feta is tofu marinated with tangy, salty ingredients and herbs for use as a topping. It is not dairy cheese and does not melt like cheese.
An overnight refrigerator marinade gives the flavour time to develop. Smaller crumbles and larger cubes take up the seasoning differently, so taste the portion before serving.
Keep it refrigerated and follow ingredient storage guidance; this recipe guarantees no keeping period. Plan a small batch for the next several days, use clean utensils and discard it when uncertain.
It’s tangy and salty, but the texture is firmer than dairy feta. Lemon, vinegar and miso create a similar flavour direction without an identical cheese taste.
Extra-firm tofu is a practical starting point for cubes that hold their shape. Press gently and use coarse crumbles when you prefer a more scattered topping.
